Philippians - A Love Letter in Four Parts

PHILIPPIANS – A LOVE LETTER IN FOUR PARTS

Paul’s letter to the Philippians is one of the most personal epistles written. In it we see the Apostle laying his heart open to this little congregation which means so much to him.
This class will consist of exegetically gleaning four of the prominent themes in Philippians from the four chapters of this epistle written by Paul. Making Application, SHORT Lecture and Lively Discussion will be the normal class atmosphere. The Four Themes we will study will be Paul’s PASSION, PATTERN, PURPOSE, and PEACE.
Students will be required to read the book in its entirety AT LEAST twice weekly on their own. It will be read at least twice prior to the first class. Four (4) 1-page personal reaction papers will be written in response to the four themes. Class notes, bibliography, and syllabus, will be handed out at the beginning of the first class.
